Thyristor Converter 4009-222-10 (ELL-Danev) for DC Motors

 

4009-222-10 is a modern 4th generation digital thyristor drive by "ELL - Danev" LTD. This basic modification is designed for precision reversible speed and torque control of independently excited DC motors (nominal armature current 40 A).

Important configuration note: this version comes without MODBUS protocol support and without an analog output module.

Architecture and Applications

The drive is built on an advanced microprocessor platform (DSP/FPGA), which guarantees high fault tolerance and stability of operating parameters. The device provides full four-quadrant motor control with support for two- or three-zone regulation:

  1. Constant torque operating zone.
  2. Constant power operating zone.
  3. Power reduction operating zone.

The converter is easily integrated into spindle and feed drive control systems. It is widely used in metal and woodworking complexes, cutting, bending, and grinding lines, as well as in equipment for the textile, rubber, and stone processing industries.

Main Technical Specifications

  • Power supply: three-phase 3x400 V network.
  • Armature current: 90 A (nominal), withstands peak loads up to 180 A.
  • Field current: up to 12.0 A (maximum range).
  • Speed control range: 10,000:1.
  • Speed feedback: tachogenerator, encoder, or armature back-EMF evaluation.
  • Communication interfaces: RS232 (9600 bps) for setup and RS485 (up to 115200 bps) for external control.
  • Inputs/Outputs: 18 digital inputs (±24V, 10mA) and 5 relay outputs (100VAC/0.3A or 24VDC/0.3A).
  • Dynamic armature current limiting: fully programmable.
  • Braking: oriented stop function.

Control and Configuration

  • Speed and position reference: can be set by external or internal digital code (up to 14 bits), via serial interface, as well as by analog signals (±10V or unipolar 0÷10V with sign).
  • Software: drive parameterization (16 parameter groups) is performed via PC using the specialized ELL RS232 V2.0 software for Windows OS.
  • Diagnostics and safety: the drive is equipped with a multi-level system of hardware and software protections. Built-in algorithms allow evaluating power supply quality, checking the status of feedback sensors, and polling I/O ports. The event log saves the last 16 errors.
